The Pastoral Letters

1 & 2 Timothy and Titus Sermon Series:  In 1 & 2 Timothy, Paul urges and tells Timothy to remain in Ephesus.  WHY?  To instruct certain people not to teach false doctrine, not to pay attention to myth and endless genealogies.  in Titus, Paul visited Crete with Titus and left him there to help resolve some problems in the struggling churches and to help them get a foothold in that pagan culture.  Click on the graphic for the link to the videos.

  • 1 TIMOTHY

THEME:  SOUND TEACHING leads to a SOUND FAITH leads to SOUND LIVING.
"Sound" in Greek ὑγιαίνω,v  \{hoog-ee-ah'-ee-no} 1) to be sound, to be well, to be in good health  2) metaph.  2a) of Christians whose opinions are free from any mixture of error  2b) of one who keeps the graces and is strong

  • 2 Timothy

THEME:  SOUND TEACHING leads to a SOUND FAITH leads to SOUND LIVING with a Spirit of Power, Love and Self-Discipline.  "Be Strong":  The idea the Greek word is showing is to “be strengthened” which is a command that Paul is telling Timothy.  These are encouraging words for us today.

  • TITUS

THEME:  SOUND DOCTRINE and MORAL CHARACTER = Believers that are the Body of Christ.  Paul’s short letter to Titus addresses this problem.  Titus is to take God's truth to Crete  to help resolve some problems in the struggling churches and to help them get a foothold in that pagan culture.
